Kevin had dreams of being a professional footballer, but injury meant he had to stop playing. After a variety of jobs, he decided he needed to build a real long-term career. So, at 26, he joined GCS – and has never looked back.
Starting as a Telecanvasser, he has progressed through the company, winning awards and being voted by his colleagues the Most Valuable Person at GCS. After reaching a stage where he had placed 25 contractors concurrently on assignment and was generating revenues of £40,000 a month, he decided to move into business development. “One aspect I really enjoy is building relationships with both candidates and clients to the point where there is a real trust between us: over time, I get to know exactly what they need and can talk to them frankly and honestly”.
Kevin is now helping to build a new trading division for GCS specialising in digital media: “My new role has taken me into lots of new areas, including marketing, branding and building a team. Since joining GCS, I’ve been given so many opportunities to progress my career. It’s really up to you: you are given a lot of freedom, and you can reap the rewards if you do well.
“GCS has been through some changes recently and we’re now in a great position to face the latest challenges in the recruitment market. We need people to join us who are well-rounded, down-to-earth and focused. You don’t have to be experienced: our training will support you. But you need to be prepared to work hard, be self motivated and have ambition for yourself. If you do well, the rewards and incentives are amazing.
