Joined GCS in June 2003
“GCS is a very fair place to work: they expect hard work but give a lot back in return. The directors are really approachable: they are often on the sales floor and listen to your ideas. And if you work hard, you can achieve so much: the rewards are endless.”
Lisa joined GCS from university, with a degree in sociology. Her initial impressions at the interview persuaded her that it would be a good company to join, and she hasn’t been disappointed.
After starting as a Telecanvasser, she has progressed rapidly, becoming a Consultant, a Senior Consultant, a Principal Consultant, and a Team Leader. She is now Reading Contracts Manager.
She believes that, if you’re open-minded and up for a challenge, there is a lot that can be achieved at GCS: “It’s very much a meritocracy and people are promoted from within the company. I’ve progressed through the whole hierarchy so I know it can be done.”
Lisa is very aware of how technically demanding the IT industry is: “It’s so fast-moving. To respond to clients’ needs, it’s vital that we understand emerging technologies and know where to find people who can work with them. GCS provides us with the training and tools we need so that we really know the market and all the latest developments.”
Lisa is now managing a successful team which has hit all the sales targets it has been set. She believes that the right person for GCS needs to be competitive, tenacious and motivated by the finer things in life: “If you have the right attributes and ambitions, then we can teach you how to do the job. I knew nothing about recruitment when I joined and it was very easy to learn.
”I wouldn’t have achieved the fantastic life style I’ve got if I hadn’t worked for GCS. And the incentives are great: I’ve been to Las Vegas, Miami, Spain and Sicily. If you work hard you can achieve so much.”
