John joined GCS with an established track record in recruitment, Management consultancy and Business process outsourcing, specialising in Banking and financial services. He is now building the Banking and financial Services and Accounting teams, one of GCS’ new business divisions: “We’ve made a great start, we’re now working with most of the top insurers in the UK, and we’re making inroads into the top retail banks. My aim is to grow the division to such an extent that we can open up offices in the UK’s major financial centres.”
Having worked for larger firms, John is very aware of the advantages of being part of a company such as GCS: “Although it’s a competitive sales environment, GCS does business sensibly. It’s also very refreshing to have the owner of the company so actively involved. He makes sure we all understand what the business is doing and why certain decisions are made: it encourages buy-in from everyone.”
John joined GCS because it offered an opportunity to develop part of the business himself. He brought with him in-depth understanding of the very demanding requirements of the financial services industry, in particular around regulation, compliance and risk: “It’s a very exacting area to work in and our clients are looking for very specific candidates. It’s crucial to find the right people very quickly, and we pride ourselves on doing that.
“The fact that we’ve won business over much larger and more established recruiters, and that we’re now on Preferred Supplier Lists, shows that we’re doing the right things. We’ve put in the building blocks for the division and now we’re looking forward to growing it even further.”
